Chair Re-Do

I scored a free chair last week and finished the re-do today.  I am really excited about how it turned out.  It was fun to do.  Although I do have to admit I was a little sad that my home decor doesn't include any "springy" colors.  I was really wanting to paint the chair a creamy yellow or robin's egg blue.  Next time...
Before
 And after!

I used Satin Black spray paint and  fabric from JoAnn's.

A new dress for Spring

I had a lot of fun sewing this little spring number. I love the colors and the fabric- probably because they make me feel "springish" and I am SO sick of wintery weather. I used a McCalls pattern and added my own little touches.

(My little lady was happy to model it, she loved the ruffles and that it spun well.)

Lollipops!

image

I made these adorable pants and a skirt for my friend Scarlette (I have to admit I wanted to keep them for my self)

New Sash and Bow for Easter

Here's my little lady ready for Spring. I made her the white dress for Easter last year, and am reusing it this year, except with a new bow and sash. Her brothers are wearing green, navy, and white; so this is what I came up with to have her match. For her sash and bow I made rolled rosettes out of taffeta, the little blossom flowers out of organza (I singed the edges over a candle), and added some pearls for embellishment.

Snakes and snails and puppy dog tails...

That's what little boys are made of. Our family will be welcoming a new little boy this summer (our 3rd. 3 boys and 1 girl), so I have been busy sewing. It is still early, but I figure I better do it now while I still feel like it, since my motivation seems to go down the more this belly of mine grows.

My boppy pillow was in serious need of a new cover. I traced it to make a pattern. One side is polka-dots and the other is stripes. Most covers have a zipper closure, but since I hate sewing zippers I opted for ties instead. I really like how it turned out.

I've never used one of these car seat canopies. But I thought they seemed like a good idea, so I went ahead and made a reversible one.

Flannel blankets. Just 2 pieces of flannel sewn together.
I saw this idea online and loved it. So I got out the wonder-under and made this handsome little onesie.
Another flannel receiving blanket.
Burp clothes. I used flannel on one side and terry cloth on the other.
My babies tend to be very spitty and drooly, so I made bibs galore. These are cotton on one side and terry cloth on the other.

Now all I have to do is wait for this little guy to make his appearance!

My Tip:
If you do not want a permanent indent of your letters take the chalk and put it on its side over the whole project then erase the chalk, (as seen above)  Also, when you are painting your chalkboard paint.  First paint it horizontal then paint your second coat vertical.
